Actors' Playhouse Offers Summer Camp for Children and A Teen-One Act Camp for Aspiring Actors
Actors' Playhouse Theatre Conservatory hosts an annual theatre arts training program for children, teens, and adults to hone their skills in acting for theatre, camera and musical theatre, as well as develop self esteem and greater communication skills. All conservatory programs are limited in size offering personal training to all participants. Actors' Playhouse is now accepting enrollment for Summer Camp.
The Children's Summer Theatre Camp Session I will be held June 11 – July 6, 2007 and Session II will be July 9 – August 3, both open to ages 7 – 12. Both sessions are Monday – Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Each session provides hands-on experience and gives young actors the opportunity to explore the many aspects of theatre. Camp session fee is $800 and includes a T-shirt and group photo. Early morning and late afternoon pick-ups are available for an additional fee.
Imagination and creativity are encouraged through development and writing of original monologues and scenes. Sessions include acting, theatre games, music, movement, improvisation, and scene study. In the session's final week, campers will perform a production of their own creation for family and friends on the big stage.
For students ages 13 – 18, The Children's Theatre Summer Camp offers a Teen One-Act Showcase. From June 25 – August 3, 2007, Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays from 4:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m., the Teen One-Act Showcase offers students the opportunity to apply skills learned in other classes to a concentrated production effort; however, acting experience is not required. Students receive instruction in acting skills, script analysis, and audition techniques, culminating with a one-act play produced by the students. The fee for the Teen One-Act Showcase is $400.
Actors' Playhouse Conservatory students have appeared on Broadway and in regional theatres. Conservatory teachers are experienced South Florida theatre professionals, assisted by guest artists who teach mime, make-up, scenic and costume design.
