Actors' Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre will postpone the start of its 30th anniversary season one week due to the effects of Hurricane Irma.

The company's production of Evita will now begin on November 1, 2017 instead of the original October 25, 2017 start date, with the rest of the season schedule to continue as planned.

"In respect for the community, we have decided to delay the start of our season one week as South Florida remains in recovery mode post Hurricane Irma," said Executive Producing Director Barbara S. Stein. "We also experienced delayed power outages after the storm, much like the rest of our region, causing us to lose valuable production time. This new schedule will allow our neighbors the much-needed time to recoup, while giving us the time needed to kick off our milestone season off with a bang."

Actors' Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre's 2017 - 2018 schedule will now continue as follows:

Evita

Lyrics by Tim Rice

Music by Andrew Lloyd Webber

November 1 - 26, 2017 (English language run)

November 30 - December 17 (Spanish language run)

Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's Evita charts the rags-to-riches rise of the First Lady of Argentina, Eva Duarte Peron. It follows her journey from fatherless child to ambitious actress to the most powerful woman in Latin America-and, eventually, to a saint-like figure after her death from cancer at age 33. This musical theatre masterpiece fuses evocative chorales with exuberant Latin, pop and jazz influences to create an arresting theatrical portrait as complex as the woman herself. Actors' Playhouse is thrilled to reprise Evita, one of the most significant productions in our 30-year history, in both English and Spanish.

Noises Off

By Michael Frayn

January 17 - February 4, 2018

Called the funniest farce ever written, Noises Off presents a manic menagerie as a cast of itinerant actors rehearse a flop called Nothing's On. This hysterical comedy features a single-set farce where the audience gets to see the show from onstage and off as lovers frolic, doors slam, clothes are tossed away and a festival of delirium ensues. Noises Off is a well-known romp that was just nominated for the 2016 Tony Award for Best Revival of A Play.

Once

Music and lyrics by Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová

Book by Enda Walsh

Based on the film Once by John Carney

February 28 - March 25, 2018

Winner of eight Tony Awards including Best Musical, Once is a truly original Broadway experience. Performed by an extraordinary cast of actor musicians who sing, dance and play their hearts out on stage, Once tells the enchanting tale of a Dublin street musician and the beautiful young woman who takes an interest in his haunting love songs. As the chemistry between them grows, his music soars to powerful new heights. Emotionally captivating and theatrically breathtaking, Once is the only show to have music that won the Academy Award, Grammy Award, Olivier Award and Tony Award and will be a 'once' in a lifetime experience at the Miracle Theatre.

Million Dollar Quartet

Book by Colin Escott and Floyd Mutrux

Original concept and direction by Floyd Mutrux

Inspired by the music of Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins

May 9 - June 24, 2018

Back by popular demand after a high-voltage 11 week run, Actors' Playhouse is proud to announce the return of Million Dollar Quartet in its 30th anniversary season. Inspired by the famous photo and phenomenal true story of the famed recording session that brought together rock 'n' roll icons Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins for the first and only time in their careers. On December 4, 1956, these four young musicians were gathered together by Sam Phillips, the "Father of Rock 'n' Roll," at Sun Records in Memphis for what would be one of the most electrifying jam and storytelling sessions of all time. Million Dollar Quartet brings the heart and soul of that legendary night to life with an irresistible tale of excitement and passion, featuring 21 timeless hits including "Blue Suede Shoes," "Sixteen Tons," "Great Balls of Fire," "I Walk the Line," "Fever," "Hound Dog" and more.

The Big Bang

Music by Jed Feuer

Book and lyrics by Boyd Graham

July 25 - September 2, 2018

In this whirlwind musical, two comedy writers try to raise enough "dough" for the most historically expansive show ever conceived. In a record 90 minutes, and using all of the furniture and decorations on stage, both actors are put to the test as they try to convince their potential theatrical backers (the audience) that this insane frivolity is somehow worthy of the author's unrealistic hopes and aspirations.
