Actors' Playhouse 2007-2008 Season is Fresh, New, and Exciting
A bright new season full of four exciting dance in your seat and laugh out loud musical comedies, and thought provoking plays, comes to South Florida's award-winning theatre company. In its 2007-2008 season, Actors' Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre presents a unique and exciting line-up of shows.

Nominated for 10 Tony Awards and the 2002 Winner for Best Original Score, URINETOWN (October 10 – November 4, 2007) kicks off the season. One of the most uproariously funny musicals in recent years, URINETOWN is a hilarious tale of greed, corruption, love, and revolution in a time when water is worth its weight in gold. Praised for reinvigorating the very notion of what a musical could be URINETOWN catapults the "comedic romp" into the new millennium with its outrageous perspective, wickedly modern wit, and sustained ability to produce gales of unbridled laughter. Written by Greg Kotis with lyrics by Greg Kotis and Mark Hollman and music by Mark Hollman, The New York Post called it "Pure Gold!"
Performed in the Berkshires last summer by Annette Miller, originator of the role of Golda Meir in Golda's Balcony, and written by Jodi Rothe, recent finalist for the American Theatre Critics Association Osborn Award for Emerging Playwrights, MARTHA MITCHELL CALLING (November 28 – December 23, 2007) tells the tale of the outrageous Martha Mitchell, a Southern born debutante who married John Mitchell, Richard Nixon's Attorney General. Miller's portrayal of this historic character reveals the power of how one woman's influence can change the course of history during turbulent political times.
WINNER of the 2005 Best Off-Broadway Musical Outer Critics Circle Award, Altar Boyz (January 16 – February 10, 2008) is a laugh packed musical comedy that will rock into Coral Gables. A phenomenal hit in NY, Actors' Playhouse will produce the first regional production with the "BOYZ", Mathew, Mark, Luke, Juan, and Abraham. Music and lyrics by Gary Adler and Michael Walker, and book by Kevin Del Aguila, Altar Boyz is a soul searching fun experience of love and acceptance with witty music and hot dancing.FOOTLOOSE, THE Musical (March 5 – April 6, 2008) was nominated for 4 Tony Awards and has the potential to become the next Grease with its high energy, exuberant entertainment, bursting to life with music, romance, and dance. One of the most explosive movie musicals in recent memory, the FOOTLOOSE sound track was #1 on the billboard charts. Stage adaptation by Dean Pitchford and Walter Bobbie and based on the original screenplay by Dean Pitchford, music by Tom Snow, lyrics by Dean Pitchford and additional music by Eric Carmen, Sammy Hagar, Kenny Loggins, and Jim Steinman. FOOTLOOSE is "A celebration of youthful independence… Genuine artistry and innovation…terrific tunes," said Variety.
An entertaining look at our "40's and 50's", the new musical revue MID-LIFE! The Crisis Musical (July 9 – August 10, 2008) strikes a chord with anyone regardless of age. MID-LIFE! is lampooned with a Saturday Night Live non-sensibility, with humor and bittersweet moments about the trials and tribulations of the unavoidable aging process. Book, lyrics, and music by Bob Walton and Jim Walton, Lavender Magazine calledMID-LIFE! "Fall-Out-Of-Your-Seat-Funny…hilarious!" and Pioneer Press said, "This musical revue is a little stroke of genius!"
The 2007-2008 season will finish off with one more play still to be announced, presented May 7 – June 8, 2008.
Season subscriptions for the 2007-2008 season are on sale now with prices ranging from †$160 for preview performances, $214 for Wednesday and Thursday evenings and Sunday†matinees, $250 for Friday and Saturday evenings, and $256 for VIP Flexible/Anytime tickets for premium seats in every performance. Opening night tickets, including a gala party and Bacardi bar, are $394. Miracle Maker donor subscriptions, including two tickets to opening nights, donor acknowledgement, and two tickets to†the annual Reach for the Stars Gala Auction 2008 are $1250. Subscriptions for children 18 years and younger with a full paid adult subscription, and college students, are $100 (restrictions apply).
