FIU THEATRE presents A. R. Gurney's THE DINING ROOM, a poignant and sometimes very funny look at the decline of middle class values.
The production is directed by guest director GAIL GARRISAN and will take place on the University Park Campus of FIU in the Wertheim Performing Arts Center Studio Theatre. Shows are November 9 – 19; 8:00pm. Thursday through Saturday, and 2:00pm on Sunday. Tickets are $10.00 for General Admission and $8.00 for Senior Citizens and FIU Students.
THE DINING ROOM follows the antics of fifty-seven characters ages 6 to 76, in a series of vignettes that take place in eigteen different family dining rooms over the years 1939 to 1980. In a remarkable bit of playwriting legerdemain those 57 characters are played by eight actors. GAIL GARRISAN is a freelance director and acting teacher. For nine years she worked with City Theatre, which produces the acclaimed Summer Shorts Festival and for 7 years was Festival Artistic Director.
