Alton Brown brings his brand of quirky humor and culinary-science antics to the stage in his first ever national tour! He will be at the Van Wezel on March 2, 2014.
Alton Brown's flair in the kitchen bloomed at a young age guided by his mother and grandmother. As a college student Alton revealed that he used his skillful culinary talents "as a way to get dates." After graduating from college, Alton spent a decade working as a cinematographer and commercial director. He spent much of his time between shoots watching cooking shows and was appalled at how dull they were. Alton was convinced that he could do better and traded in the film business for a spot at the New England Culinary Institute. Taking his film industry experience and his passion in the kitchen, he created his first television show, Good Eats. With his blend of wit, wisdom, science, pop culture and his cooking abilities, the show was a huge success and was hosted for thirteen years.
Throughout the years Alton has become a much loved American television personality, collecting a whole host of Awards along the way. Since his first television show, Alton has created several others including: Iron Chef America, Feasting on Asphalt, Feasting on Waves, Next Iron Chef, Food Network Star and Cutthroat Kitchen. He has written seven books, one of which won the James Beard Award for Best Cookbook in the Reference category, and three that made the New York Times best seller list.
Alton Brown's Live Tour promises to be a wild evening extravaganza that the whole family will enjoy. Throughout the evening, audience interaction is strictly enforced; the action packed highly entertaining show will encompass Brown's stand-up comedy, talk-show antics, food experimentation and live music. It will certainly be a night to remember!
