Jake Ehrenriech's
New York Hit Comedy Musical
A JEW GROWS IN BROOKLYN
Extended through April
At the Cuillo Centre for the Arts
Due to unprecedented ticket sales and continuing demand A Jew Grows in Brooklyn, Jake Ehrenreich's "rock 'n roll true story, Holocaust family, borscht belt..." autobiographical comedy has been extended through April. The show, which has been playing to consistently sold out houses at the Cuillo Centre for the Arts, has drawn enthusiastic – and record-breaking - audiences to the West Palm Beach theatre since it opened in early January.
Unique, yet universal in its appeal, the ninety minute, multi-media performance has something for everyone. Laughter and music (aside from his rich singing voice, Ehrenreich demonstrates his prowess on several instruments) play key roles in his reminiscences, as do the photos and videos that are interspersed into the show. But the heart and soul of the show is the journey of self discovery Ehrenreich invites his audience to share.
"I felt my story, and those of people like me had not been told before," Ehrenreich says. "I was born in Brooklyn, vacationed in the Catskills and was determined to be an American. I'm also a child of the Holocaust. I wanted to write a joyful show, despite the sadness."
Although entitled A Jew Grows in Brooklyn, one doesn't have to be Jewish or 'Brooklynish' in order to enjoy the show – A Jew Grows in Brooklyn resonates with everyone.
