This year, Andrew Lloyd Webber, the master of musical theatre, is celebrating 25 years of the wonder of CATS.  On May 11, 1981, CATS opened at the New London Theatre in the West End becoming the longest running musical in the history of British theatre. In 1982, CATS opened at the Winter Garden Theatre in New York City and became the longest running musical on Broadway in 1997.   In October of 1991 CATS became the longest continuously touring show in American Theatre history. Five continents, 26 countries, over eight and a half million audience members and twenty five years later, CATS is still America's most loved family musical. Celebrating 25 years, CATS is still revolutionary and awe inspiring.

Based on T.S. Eliot's Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats, and with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, CATS won seven 1983 Tony® Awards including Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical, Best Lighting and Best Costumes.

The Fort Lauderdale engagement of CATS is presented in arrangement with Florida Theatrical Association, a non-profit civic organization with a volunteer board of trustees established to ensure the continued presentation of quality national touring Broadway productions in the state of Florida and is a "Special" offering of Stanford Broadway Across America – Fort Lauderdale.
