The awards benefit raises scholarships for South Florida arts students, with sponsorships beginning at $200. For sponsorships and group sales information, go to www.carbonellawards.org or call Miami Playbill at 305-624-5001, ext. 40.

The Award Ceremony is currently presented by the Broward Performing Arts Center Foundation, The Broward Center for the Performing Arts and Southern Playbill Publications.

Produced by Jean Ann Ryan Productions, directed & choreographed by Jean Ann Ryan for the 3rd time. With the Peter Graves Orchestra. Hosts and guest stars to be announced.

South Florida's theater and arts honors are named after sculptor Manuel Carbonell, designer and donor of the statuettes signifying the region's finest shows, performances and career achievement.

The 31st annual regional theater awards are the first under a new system patterned after programs in cities such as Washington, D.C., with separate nominating and judging panels. The panels included a total of 30 members. Twenty nominators screened approximately 100 eligible productions and recommended 49 for nomination consideration by a panel of 10 judges. Judges determined the nominations in an open meeting, and vote secretly to select winners.

Nominees and special award honorees will be honored at a gala invitation-only reception March 26.
