Fredrik Rydman's interpretation of the classic tale of Swan Lake makes the action contemporary, with street dance meeting Tchaikovsky. Instead of sorcery and supernatural events, Rothbart gains power over those around him using drugs. The swans are sex workers who are completely dependent on Rothbart's protection and the heroin he provides them with. The craving for drugs and love plays a central role in the struggle between good and bad. Making the right decision and daring to trust the right person are crucial. How will the tale end this time?
Tchaikovsky's original score is used to a certain extent but is blended with completely new compositions and specially written music by Salem Al Fakir and Moneybrother among others.
The dancers, ten of them in all, have danced in Bounce productions previously or have been selected by audition. Jennie Widegren (Bounce) dances the role of the mother and we see Ambra Succi (Bounce) in the role of the black swan. Odette, the white swan, is danced by Maria Andersson; as Sigfried, we see Robert Malmborg, and Rothbarth is danced by Daniel Koivunen. Other roles are danced by Lisa Arnold, Dawid Bienkowski, Anna Näsström, Mario Perez Amigo and Fredrik Wentzel.
Specially composed music by Salem Al Fakir, Moneybrother, Eye N' I from PH3 and Skizz from Stockholmssyndromet, Adiam Dymott, Lune, Mario Perez Amigo and Simsoak Lighting design by Linus Fellbom, stage design by Fredrik Rydman and Lehna Edwall, and costumes by Lehna Edwall.
