Niman Axkan is a concert dedicated to honoring contemporary music from indigenous communities, taking place on August 10, 2024, at the Palacio de Bellas Artes. Directed by Felipe Pérez Santiago, the event features performances by the Banda Sinfónica Infantil y Juvenil de Huejotzingo, Vórtice Ensamble, and various guest artists, including the mixe group Kujipy and soprano Victoria Amaro. The concert will showcase diverse musical expressions, including hip-hop, rock, and traditional pieces sung in indigenous languages, emphasizing the current creation and adaptation of music by young members of these communities. This project highlights the importance of cultural diversity and inclusion through contemporary interpretations of indigenous musical traditions.
