Bellas Artes Opera presents La Bohème with the Choir and Orchestra of the Teatro de Bellas Artes in Mexico and Schola Cantorum, and the presentation of tenor Ramon Vargas.
The play in four acts, was written by Giacomo Puccini (1858-1924), with a libretto by Luigi Illica (1857-1919) and Giuseppe Giacosa (1847-1906). Its premiere took place in Turin in 1896.
In our country, first introduced in August 1897 in the defunct National Theatre (located in what is now May 5 and Bolívar). At the Palace of Fine Arts in 1935 and arrived at the venue since it has been scheduled in 40 seasons, with 115 functions.
La Bohème tells aspirations, loves and setbacks of four young bohemians-Rodolfo, the poet; Marcello, the painter; Schaunard, musician and Colline, the philosopher who share an attic in Paris. Rodolfo and Mimi fall in love with her neighbor, while Marcello, through a third party, rediscovers an old romance: Musetta. But love is not enough to give the players an emotional balance in their lives and one of the main characters will die.
