Four Corridos is a chamber opera by the American soprano Susan Narucki and Mexican writer Jorge Volpi. The theme develops trafficking in women, in a bleak journey that starts within the town of Tenancingo, Tlaxcala (identified since ancient times as one of the states with the highest rate of prostitution in the country) and ends in "Fields of Love" near the plantations of strawberries San Diego, California.
This binational story is presented from four perspectives: two victims, a woman who was a victim but later became part of the band of traffickers and police chicane. The four monologues (written by way of benches) are played by Susan, who along with a trio of musicians (piano, percussion and guitar) tells one of the most egregious violations committed against human rights.
