Following a celebrated run on Broadway and in Chicago, BEYOND GLORY, starring Stephen Lang, will perform for one night only at the Orpheum Theatre on Saturday, November 22nd. This brilliant one-man show presents the stories of eight veterans from World War II, Korea and Vietnam, rendering firsthand accounts of valor that resulted in the nation's highest military award, the Medal of Honor.
BEYOND GLORY is presented by several Memphis area historical groups. Proceeds from this one-night engagement will benefit local veterans' park projects, the proposed WWII cannon memorial, and the Wounded Warrior project.
"BEYOND GLORY will not only help to raise funds for local historical projects, but it will also honor our veterans through the valiant stories of the heroes who have helped shape our nation," said spokesman Alan Doyle. "We are proud to bring this enthralling tribute to Memphis."
Adapted from Larry Smith's stirring book, BEYOND GLORY reaches into the souls of audiences and keeps them spellbound from start to finish. The oral histories of eight veterans are brought to life through Stephen Lang's commanding performance. Lang, an award winning playwright and star of the stage and screen, subtly moves through each man's story with illusory magic that lights up the stage for a truly memorable presentation.
Commended for film portrayals of Babe Ruth to Stonewall Jackson to Avatar's Col. Quaritch, Stephen Lang began his career on Broadway, receiving awards and rare review in Dustin Hoffman's Death of a Salesman and as the original Colonel Jessep in a Few Good Men. It is through Lang's stage adaptation of BEYOND GLORY that he has reached his most memorable and most brilliant work to date.
