Noises Off is presented on Theatre Memphis's Lohrey Stage tonight April 27 – May 3, 2012. The plot "spotlights a crew of B-list actors who rehearse a British bedroom farce to tour small towns across Britain. The director of this motley crew must battle egos, incompetence, and backstage romance to mount an increasingly chaotic play."
Director Ann Marie Hall has assembled a veteran cast which includes Kim Justis, Tony Isbell, Brain Everson, Melissa Walker Moore, Chelsea Robinson, Michael Bechard, Lauren K. Rachel, Christopher Tracy and Barry Fuller. Hall says, "There's a lot of doors slamming and missed entrances written into this script which is so incredibly fun and I've had a hard time trying to find where truth is stranger than fiction … or vice versa. This show takes an enormous amount of concentration on the part of the actors because of the precise timing to make the comedy work." Laughing, she says, "When someone really misses an entrance that is a staged missed entrance, it can cause chaos."
Theatre Memphis Executive Producer Debbie Litch thinks this will be one of the Theatre Memphis season highlights. "Comedy is something that just naturally appeals to the public," Litch states. "With the creative vision of Ann Marie and the cast of real pros who know how to play comedy, our patrons are in for a real treat. This show also gives us another opportunity to show off the production values that we try to incorporate into all our shows. With all the stairs, doors and the actors flailing around, that set had better be sturdy!"
