The true story of hatred turned to lasting friendship, Best of Enemies tells the narrative of Ann Atwater, a black civil rights activist, and C.P. Ellis, a high-ranking cyclops of the KKK. During the 1971 court-ordered desegregation of schools in Durham, N. C., a mediator sent by the Department of Education gets Atwater and Ellis to co-chair a committee formed to debate the desegregation. Forced to face each other and confront the prejudice in their hearts, they ultimately discover the real enemy they share.
Best of Enemies is directed by John Maness, features Playhouse on the Square Company Member Claire D. Kolheim (Hairspray; Clybourne Park) with Jerry Rogers (The Color Purple), Erin Shelton (God of Carnage), and Greg Bolton making his Playhouse on the Square debut.
