ShoWagon, the Department of Outreach and Education at Theatre Memphis, has scheduled a multi-cultural Around the World Spring Break Camp for March 14 - 18, 2011, at Theatre Memphis, 630 Perkins Extended at Southern Avenue. The camp will teach children about different forms of theatre from across the world and will focus on five countries with their own distinct forms of theatre: America (Vaudeville), Italy (Commedia dell'arte), France (Mime), India (Shadow Puppets), Japan (Noh). Each day will focus on a new country and theatre style with the day's activities built around both. Children attending the camps will learn about the country, its culture, music, art, and theatre through the daily workshops such as mask construction and makeup, crafts, movement, art, folklore and performance practice.

All classes will be taught by professional teaching artists associated with ShoWagon

ShoWagon is a children's theatre company made up of professional actors at Theatre Memphis. These actors are dedicated to bringing classical works of literature to life while providing a knowledge and experience base from which educators can draw. It is their goal to deepen and broaden each student's understanding of literary and dramatic works of art and to inspire confidence in their own abilities to articulate their perspectives of the world.

Theatre Memphis is a not-for-profit 501 (c) (3) organization located at 630 Perkins Extended, on the corner of Perkins and Southern, and is a community theatre whose mission is to provide outstanding theatrical experiences to enrich the lives of our audiences and participants.
