The Roxy Regional Theatre offers the perfect Halloween weekend activity with the infamous Mercury Theatre 1938 radio broadcast, THE WAR OF THE WORLDS, recreated live onstage for three performances only.
One of the earliest depictions of an alien invasion, THE WAR OF THE WORLDS caused public outcry as many listeners believed that an actual Martian invasion was in progress. Adapted for the radio by Howard Koch, with input from Orson Welles and the staff of CBS's "Mercury Theatre on the Air," THE WAR OF THE WORLDS is based on the novella by H.G. Wells.WAR OF THE WORLDS plays at 8pm on Friday, October 28, and at 2pm and 8pm on Saturday, October 29. Tickets are $15 (adults) and $10 (ages 13 and under) and may be reserved online at www.roxyregionaltheatre.org, by phone at (931)645-7699, or at the theatre during regular box office hours (9am-2pm, weekdays).
