The final musical in the Playhouse on the Square 2015 - 2016 season is Sister Act! When disco diva Deloris Van Cartier witnesses a murder, she is put into protective custody in a convent! The New York Times cries "when the wimples start quivering, the pinched mouths break into sunbeam smiles, and the nuns start rocking to raise the gothic rafters, all's right in the kingdom of musical comedy." Based on the hit 1992 film of the same name, Sister Act is filled with powerful gospel music, outrageous dancing, and a truly moving story.

Leading the show as the vivacious and hilarious Deloris Van Cartier is Playhouse on the Square Resident Company Member Claire D. Kolheim (The Color Purple; The Gospel at Colonus). Sister Act also features Jeanna Juleson (The Country House; Angels in America Pts. 1 & 2), as Mother Superior, Associate Company Member Cayley Nicole Smith (Peter Pan; Carrie the Musical) as Sister Mary Robert, and Playhouse on the Square Resident Company Member Kim Sanders (The Country House; Billy Elliot the Musical) as Sister Mary Martin-of-Tours. Sister Act is directed by Playhouse on the Square Resident Company Member Dave Landis, choreographed by Travis Bradley, and Music Directed by Thomas Bergstig. Sister Act also marks the final costume design of Rebecca Y. Powell as Playhouse on the Square Resident Costume Designer; she will be retiring after sixteen seasons with Playhouse on the Square.

Sister Act runs June 17th - July 10th at Playhouse on the Square. Sister Act is sponsored by Robert Briggs and the Briggs Family Foundation; Smith Seckman Reid, Inc.; Jim Keras Subaru; SunTrust Bank; and Grayson Smith Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning. The Circuit Playhouse Inc. Super Sponsor is Dr. Thomas Ratliff. The Pay-What-You-Can Performance is Thursday, June 23rd at 8pm and is sponsored by ArtsZone/AutoZone and Southland Park Gaming and Racing. Playhouse on the Square is located at 66 S. Cooper St. For more information or to make reservations, please call 901-726-4656 or purchase tickets online at playhouseonthesquare.org.
