Playhouse on the Square Presents PIPPIN, 1/29-2/21

Winner of 5 Tony Awards, Pippin is the lively coming of age story of King Charlemagne's oldest son. Featuring music from the award-­?winning composer of Wicked and Godspell, this dazzlingly colorful and imaginative tale first captivated audiences on Broadway and continues to appeal to the young-at-­heart everywhere. Pippin longs to discover the secret of true happiness and fulfillment. After seeking it in the glories of the battlefield, The Temptations of the flesh, and the intrigues of political power, Pippin finds contentment in the simple pleasures of home and family. 

Directed by Guest Artist Scott Ferguson (Altar Boyz, Beauty and the Beast, AIDA), PIPPIN stars Guest Artists Alvaro Francisco (RENT, Romeo & Juliet, Altar Boyz), Lili Thomas (RENT, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee), and Sean Blake, as well as Resident Company Member Irene Crist (The Little Dog Laughed, Third, The History Boys), and Memphis favorites Kent Fleshman (The Light in the Piazza, The Great American Trailer Park Musical), Kimberly Baker (Seussical, 110 in the Shade) and Joshua Quinn (The Seafarer, 110 in the Shade).

PIPPIN runs at the NEW Playhouse on the Square January 29th - February 21st, Thursdays through Saturdays at 8pm & Sundays at 2pm. The Pay What You Can performance is Thursday, February 4th at 8pm. The First Sunday Event is Sunday, January 31st, following the 2pm performance. Audiences that day will enjoy complimentary food and beverages and have the opportunity to meet the cast and crew, as well as take tours of the new building.
