Memphis Black Arts Alliance to Host JAZZ-A-F!RE Jam Session 1/29

Interested patrons and musicians are invited to join Musical Director-bassist Kent Suggs, Broadway(MEMPHIS) actress-vocalist Naomi Williams Moody, legendary Stax trumpeter Nokie Taylor, guitarists Lance Thompson amd Ed "Jupiter Skyfish" Finney, joined by pianist Stephen Lee and percussionist James “Bishop” Sexton for the first Jazz-A-F!RE of 2012. This will take place on Sunday, January 29, from 3-5pm at the FireHouse Community Arts Center, 985 South Bellevue Blvd. BYOI (instrument) for the second hour and jam.

Presented by Memphis Black Arts Alliance since its founding year in July 2009, Jazz-A-F!re provides a free opportunity for black Memphians of all backgrounds to come together for two hours the last Sunday of each month (3 - 5 pm) to experience FireHouse Community Arts Academy professional music faculty entertain them with authentic, Memphis-style straight-ahead jazz. The second hour is BYOI (Bring Your Own Instrument) where guest artists (emerging, professional and youth musicians) sit end and jam.
