Hailed by The New York Times as a "flat-out brilliant portrait of a monarchy in crisis," the 2015 Olivier Award winner for Best New Play, King Charles III takes us to an alternate reality where, after a lifetime of waiting, Britain's Prince Charles ascends the throne. Now the question becomes, "How to rule?" This controversial drama explores the people beneath the monarchy, the unwritten rules of our democracy, and the conscience of Britain's most famous family.
King Charles III features a large ensemble cast spearheaded by Jim France, making his Playhouse on the Square debut as King Charles III. Christina Wellford Scott (Anne Frank) is his wife, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, Ian Lah (Mamma Mia) & Jared H. Graham (Peter and the Starcatcher; Seminar) as his sons William Duke of Cambridge & Prince Harry. Jamie Boller makes her Playhouse on the Square debut as Kate, Duchess of Cambridge. King Charles III also features Playhouse on the Square Company Members David Foster (Peter and the Starcatcher; Peter Pan) and Michael Gravois (Peter and the Starcatcher; The Other Place) as James Reiss, Press Secretary to King Charles III and Tristan Evans, Prime Minister. King Charles III is directed by Playhouse on the Square Resident Company Member Dave Landis (Sister Act; The Other Place).
