Germantown Community Theatre is thrilled to announce the official beginning of their $1.5 million dollar capital campaign- "Build, Grow, Expand". The campaign will kick off with a groundbreaking ceremony and reception on the grounds of GCT on March 15, 2016 at 9 AM. Special attendees will include Mayor Mike Palazzolo and the theatre's Board of Directors. All GCT friends and supporters are encouraged to attend.
The focus of this campaign is to raise funds for a major expansion and facility improvement project that will increase the overall patron and volunteer experience. Construction will commence summer 2016. Once complete, ticketholders will enter the theatre via a widened reception area, complete with accessible bathrooms and new concession counter. Theatre artists and volunteers will enjoy a brand new scene shop, dressing area, green room and private bathrooms. In addition to improving the current theatre space, a second building will be constructed where the Bonnie Robinson Rehearsal Hall currently stands. This two-story expansion will add 5,900 square feet to the existing footprint and contain space for receptions (complete with kitchen), classes, rehearsals, and offices. GCT expects the added classroom space will allow for increased educational offerings.
"Build. Grow. Expand." will make GCT a physical representation of the existing operational gem that is Germantown's community theatre. In addition, the project will help create more efficient systems to decrease operational costs and make GCT more nimble, green and environmentally friendly.
GCT is proud to have the full support of the city of Germantown in this endeavor. According to Mayor Mike Palazzolo- "Our city is poised to be an equity partner with regards to GCT's capital campaign."
Gifts and pledges for the capital campaign project will be accepted between 2016-2018 via mail (3037 Forest Hill Irene, Germantown, TN 38138), over the phone (901.453.7447), or online (gctcomeplay.org/donate).
