The first Circuit Playhouse show of the 2015 - 2016 season is the hit comedy Buyer and Cellar. This one-man show explores the world of Alex More, a struggling L.A. actor who accepts a job working in Barbra Streisand's basement. Hilarity ensues when, one day, Barbara herself comes downstairs to play. This outrageous, smart, and award-winning comedy examines the cult of celebrity in such a way that The New Yorker raves that it is "so delightful that you wish it were true."
Playhouse on the Square Resident Company Member, Jordan Nichols, will be playing the role of Alex More. Jordan's recent Playhouse on the Square performance credits include Link (Hairspray), Bert (Mary Poppins), and Marius (Les Miserables). Jordan has also performed in the 25th anniversary tour of Les Miserables as well as in the off-Broadway cast of The Fantasticks. Buyer and Cellar is directed by former Memphian and Guest Artist Anne Scarbrough. During her time in Memphis, Anne taught acting at Hutchison School and performed in numerous Circuit Playhouse Inc. productions.
Buyer and Cellar runs August 21st - September 6th, 2015 at The Circuit Playhouse. The Playhouse on the Square Super Sponsor is Dr. Thomas Ratliff. Buyer and Cellar is sponsored by Relevant Roasters and An Anonymous Company. The Pay-What-You-Can Performance is Thursday, August 27th and is sponsored by ArtsZone/AutoZone and Southland Park Gaming and Racing. The Circuit Playhouse is located at 51 S. Cooper St. For more information or to make reservations, please call (901) 726 - 4656 or purchase tickets online at playhouseonthesquare.org.
