The Act Too Players (ATP), Williamson County's premier training program for all youths interested in the performing arts have teamed up with the Boiler Room, Williamson County's original and longest-running professional theatre company to host summer camps. The Act Too Players and The Boiler Room Theatre have been hosting Summer Camps together for the past 10 years. The partnership has been formed to provide students the best theatrical experience in Williamson County. Every student gets the opportunity to rehearse with the best directors, musical directors, and technical staff. Our goal is to instruct your child on the art of theatre while providing a fun, safe, environment. Both companies are located in the historic Factory at Franklin, 230 Franklin Rd., 809B, in Franklin, Tenn.

With over 80 full scaled theatrical productions in the past 10 years, the award winning Act Too Players program is grounded in the belief that theatre skills are worthwhile, valuable life skills. For children and teens, these classes, camps, and workshops open doors to imagination and self-confidence while holding fast to the discipline and work ethic that is crucial for any craft. Act Too Players strives to provide students the opportunity to learn and grow not only as a performer but also as an individual. Our Summer Camps are jam packed with all things theatrical. There is a camp for every type of performance student! Our Weeklong Camp includes a weeklong camp, weeklong musical, performance camps, and dance camps. Our weeklong summer camps meet each day from 9:00am until 3:00pm. In camp each day, campers can expect to learn the fundamentals of theatre in a safe and fun environment. All camps promise to be a fun and challenging week! All levels are welcome. We offer different camps each week to offer students a chance to develop their skills in many different areas of theatre. Each week of camp ends with a performance at the Boiler Room Theatre.

Youth Director Sondra Morton stated "It is our hope that each week a student learns more than a show or some dance moves but learns a little bit about themselves along with how to successfully work with others. Since 2002, I have had hundreds of kids pass through the program. We have many families and repeat students year after year and our summer camps truly becomes a home away from home. One student, Addison M. stated that, "You don't come to Act Too looking for friends; friends are here waiting for you" which is something I am most proud of."

The summer intensives are fully staged musical productions that rehearse twice a week for two months before mounting a fully produced show on the Boiler Room Theatre stage. This year we have Shrek the Musical for ages 7-18 and RENT for ages 14-18. SHREK THE MUSICAL, based on the Oscar(r) winning DreamWorks film that started it all, brings the hilarious story of everyone's favorite ogre to dazzling new life on the stage.

In a faraway kingdom turned upside down, things get ugly when an unseemly ogre - not a handsome prince - shows up to rescue a feisty princess. Throw in a donkey who won't shut up, a bad guy with a SHORT temper, a cookie with an attitude and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you've got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there's one on hand...and his name is Shrek. RENT SCHOOL EDITION follows a year in the life of a group of impoverished young artists and musicians struggling to survive and create in New York's Lower East Side, under the shadow of HIV/AIDS. How these young bohemians negotiate their dreams, loves, and conflicts provides the narrative thread to this groundbreaking musical. We recently opened spots to accommodate a huge interest in both RENT and Shrek the Musical. Our musical theatre summer camps have been very popular with students from all over Middle Tennessee including Franklin, Brentwood, Spring Hill, Nashville, Dickson, Murfreesboro, Chapel Hill, and Belle Meade.
