Opening November 14, the bitingly satirical and highly entertaining next offering from Snowlion Rep is Moral & Political Lessons on 'Wyoming' by New York playwright Vincent Sessa. The talented actors in this outrageous, hilarious, and moving drama will make their Snowlion Rep debut, and are not to be missed in what promises to be seven stellar performances:
Laura Graham as MRS. STANCHION, political hostess extraordinaire, feverishly stamping out artistic expression wherever it appears with a sweet, deadly smile.
Jaimie P. Schwartz as WORSHIP LEADER AHBEIT, who can pontificate with skewed "wisdom" on any subject from the death of theater to the profundity of egg whites.
Mark Rubin as LT. TENNYSON, who sees the world in the black and white of sex and violence and demands complete obedience from all he wishes to subjugate.
Bob Pettee as DEAN ICON, fighting for dignity in the new world order but finding humiliation instead, until a spark of imagination takes fire in the hearts of his young students and gives him hope.
Ellen Elizabeth White as MOLLY STANCHION, a gentle deer caught in the headlights of her mother's obsessive conservatism who finds a heady freedom in reading from the banned play 'Wyoming.'
Samuel Carlson as CLAUDE TROTT, a straight arrow who just wants to be like Gary Cooper and who finds a special heroism in standing up to the forces of oppression.
Andre T. Demers as SETH PISSARRO, yearning to discover his true self and dangerously liberated by the unquenchable spirit of theater that infuses the contraband play 'Wyoming.'
SNOWLION REP offers next acting class in 5-part series So far Snowlion Rep's artistic director, Al D'Andrea, has taught 2 parts of a 5-part series of classes that deconstructs acting technique and crystallizes the most fundamental tools for the well-rounded actor. Coming this winter, part 3 will be taught, entitled: IMAGINATION AND INSTINCT:
The Spirit of Acting Technique
Al and his students will use a variety of games, exercises, improvisations, and techniques to take an in-depth look at how to develop a strong and fluid imagination and hone the actor's instinct to bring spontaneity and authenticity to the actor's work.
The workshop is ideal for experienced actors who seek to master their use of this important element of stagecraft, while beginning actors receive a strong foundation in understanding the many and varied aspects of these critical tools in the actor's arsenal. The class is open to all, ages 16 and up.
Reservations are already being taken for this 5-week class at only $99. For more info, visit www.snowlionrep.org and click CLASSES or write to margit@snowlionrep.org to sign up!
