Shawn Johnson & Dmitry Chaplin to Lead BALLROOM WITH A TWIST at Ogunquit Playhouse, Begin. 8/27

The Ogunquit Playhouse, America's Foremost Summer Theatre, is thrilled to bring Ballroom with a Twist back to the stage for one week only, August 27 to August 31. This sizzling show is back in Ogunquit by popular demand and stars Olympic gold medalist and Dancing with Stars champion Shawn Johnson, along with Emmy Award nominated choreographer Dmitry Chaplin from Dancing with the Stars and So You Think You Can Dance. If you can't get enough of Dancing with the Stars, American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance, this is your chance to see all your favorite stars live on the Ogunquit stage!

Ballroom With A Twist star Shawn Johnson won a gold medal for the American gymnastics team in the balance beam competition at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China when she was only 16 years old. The following year, she was the winning contestant on Dancing with the Stars, competing against celebrities including teen idol singer Aaron Carter, former teen heartthrob and singer Donny Osmond, reality TV star Kelly Osbourne and model Kathy Ireland. She returned to the popular television show in 2012 as a member of the All-Star Season.

Ballroom With A Twist also features Dancing with the Stars celebrity pro Oksana Dmytrenko, So You Think You Can Dance finalists Jonathan Platero, Randi Lynn Strong, Legacy and Jaymz Tuaileva and American Idol singers Von Smith and Gina Glocksen. This spectacular dancing and singing extravaganza is fun entertainment for the whole family - live at the Ogunquit Playhouse!

Watching the cha-cha rattle on the television screen is exciting, but getting up close to the fringe, sequins and booming sounds of rumba bass is even more thrilling! Ballroom With A Twist brings a frenzy of sizzling dance moves by professional international dancers spanning the hot moves of samba, waltz, foxtrot, quickstep and jive. As if the jaw-dropping dancers, smooth moves and high kicks aren't enough to keep you enthralled, several of your favorite American Idol finalists are also joining the bill to sing powerhouse hit songs. Ballroom With A Twist delights audiences with a variety of captivating music providing a concert soundtrack to the evening.

The show is choreographed by Emmy-nominated Louis Van Amstel of "Dancing with the Stars." His passion and expertise bring a new level of excitement and flash to this family-friendly evening.
