Portland Ovations announced today that Tania Powers of Yarmouth and Mary Allen Lindemann, Co-Owner of Coffee By Design of Portland, have been elected to the board of directors.
Tania Powers relocated to Yarmouth, Maine from New York City in 2000 with her husband, Joe Powers, Senior VP of
Wealth Management at UBS in Portland and their now teenage children. In addition to her 20 years of experience in marketing, Ms. Powers also served as Director of Skincare and Cosmetics for Avon Products, Inc. She received her MBA from New York University's Stern School of Business.
Since moving to Portland, Ms. Powers has shared her passion for volunteerism, community and the arts as a dedicated, hands-on supporter of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Maine, The Portland Symphony, Healthy Homeworks, and The Yarmouth Education Foundation among others. Her first involvement with Portland Ovations was as a volunteer for their Epicurean event.
Regarding her Board service with the organization, Ms. Powers said, "I am honored to join Portland Ovations to promote and grow the diverse performing arts experiences that are made available through our programming and outreach. There is something for everyone encompassing so much diversity; world-class musicians and performers, a variety of dance genres, Broadway shows, contemporary artists and so much more. Mary Allen Lindemann is the Co-Owner and Community Builder of
Coffee By Design (CBD), a Maine-owned and operated specialty coffee roastery and retailer with five coffeehouse locations in Portland. Ms. Lindemann co-founded CBD in 1994 with her partner, Alan Spear. From the beginning, CBD has been committed to running a sustainable business dedicated to the arts, the environment, and the community. ?
Ms. Lindemann's involvement in the community includes key roles at Portland Buy Local, the Maine Women's Fund's Women Standing Together and Portland's First Friday Art Walk. Most recently, she has turned her focus to supporting issues around immigration rights and Maine's asylum-seekers. In addition to the numerous awards CBD has received, Ms. Lindemann has been personally honored with the Maine Centers for Women, Work and Community's "Women Making a Difference Award, the Southern Region Champion, Maine Women's Fund's Tribute to Women in Industry Award, Portland Buy Local's Essential Founders Award as well as first "Buy Local Champion" recognition.
Mary Allen was honored by the State of Maine with a Legislative Sentiment for public service in April 2015.
