The Ogunquit Playhouse was proud to receive the former President and First Lady, George and Barbara Bush, for the Sunday, May 31st matinee performance of A Chorus Line, starring Lorenzo Lamas. The couple brought friends to enjoy the show and afterward joined the cast on stage for an informal meet and greet. President and Mrs. Bush delighted the cast when they tried on the top hats and took a whirl at the choreography - demonstrating a knack for soft-shoe! They graciously met with each cast member, signed autographs, took pictures and conversed with Lorenzo Lamas and the Director Luis Villabon before heading home. President Bush exclaimed as they were leaving, "the show was just wonderful and he was going to tell all his friends to come see it!"

A Chorus Line runs through June 13th at The Playhouse. The show held the record as the longest running show on Broadway for 15 years and heralds nine Tony® Awards including Best Musical, Best Director and Best Choreographer, as well as the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. The Ogunquit Playhouse production of A Chorus Line features the spectacular Broadway sets and costumes. The reviews are in and this production has been touted as "...a dazzling display of exhilarating energy," by Joe Sheehan of the York County Coast Star, as "One... singular sensation well worth checking out," by April Boyle of the Portland Press Herald and by Portsmouth Herald's Tamara Le who exclaimed, "Ogunquit's got a gem."

The season continues when Broadway meets Laugh-In, June 17th through July 11th, in this frothy, infectious, all-new production of Shout! The Mod Musical; then gangsters and gamblers, missionary dolls and showgirls come to town in Broadway's perfect musical comedy Guys and Dolls, July 15th through August 8th; next on stage is Singin' in the Rain - live and raining on the Ogunquit Playhouse stage! It is based on the joyous MGM film and touted by many as the best musical ever written, August 12th through September 12th. The season comes to a close when Elvis Presley's hits roar to life on The Playhouse stage in the new Broadway musical comedy All Shook Up, starring Sally Struthers, is guaranteed to know your socks off! The Playhouse remains unparalleled in its commitment to provide the highest quality musical theatre, comparable to the best Broadway has to offer - enjoy all the glitz, all the glory, all the glam' for less than half the New York price!
