Good Theater closes its 16th season with Ken Ludwig's A Comedy of Tenors in its Portland premiere. This madcap comedy is the sequel to Ludwig's award-winning Lend Me a Tenor. The production opens March 28 and plays through April 29 at Good Theater's home, the St. Lawrence Arts Center, 76 Congress Street, Portland. A Comedy of Tenors is set in Paris 1936. Henry Saunders is about to produce the biggest operatic event of the century: the three greatest tenors of the time are gathering for a concert in the Olympic Stadium. Opera great Tito Merelli, his wife, Maria, their daughter, Mimi, Tito's protege, Max who is also Henry's son-in-law, opera diva Titianna Racon, a crazy bellhop, Beppo, and the young up and coming tenor, Carlo Nucci make up the characters of this fast paced comedy of mistaken identity and slapstick antics.
The Good Theater production of A Comedy of Tenors stars Steve Underwood as Tito, Hannah Daly as Tito's daughter Mimi, and Paul Haley as the producer Henry Saunders They are joined by newcomers to Good Theater Grace Bauer as his Tito's wife, John Lanham as opera star Carlo Nucci, and Jared Mongeau as Max. Brian P. Allen directs the production with set design by Steve Underwood, costume design by Justin Cote, lighting design by Iain Odlin, stage manager Michael Lynch and technical director Craig Robinson.

Ken Ludwig is the author of 25 plays and musicals including Lend Me a Tenor, Moon Over Buffalo, Crazy for You, Shakespeare in Hollywood, The Fox on the Fairway, and many others. His plays have been produced all over the world and translated into twenty languages. He's had six Broadway productions and seven productions in London's West End. This is the second Ken Ludwig production at Good Theater. Shakespeare in Hollywood was presented during the company's fifth season.
Ken Ludwig's A Comedy of Tenors marks Good Theater's 98th production. Next year will be the company's 17th season which opens in the fall with the Tony Award winning The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.
