Penobscot Theatre Company Opens I LOVE YOU, YOU'RE PERFECT, NOW CHANGE, 5/30

Penobscot Theatre Company is pleased to present the musical I LOVE YOU, YOU'RE PERFECT, NOW CHANGE from May 30 to June 17th.

Off-Broadway's longest-running, smash hit musical comedy, I LOVE YOU, YOU'RE PERFECT, NOW CHANGE, celebrates the triumphs and trials of the modern-day mating game. From dating and waiting to bridemaids and babies, this love-happy musical revue cleverly covers everything you've secretly thought about romance, marriage, lovers, husbands, wives and in-laws but were afraid to admit. Make a date to fall in love and laugh until it hurts with the most "proposal-friendly" show in town!

Artistic Director, Bari Newport says, "I love that this is the number one show people propose to each other at! That's a nice yard-stick for a theatre," she remarks, "if people get hitched at our performance, we've done something right!"

With book and lyrics by Tony Award Winner Joe DiPietro and music by Jimmy Roberts, I LOVE YOU, YOU'RE PERFECT, NOW CHANGE, was first written in 1996, but the truths of the situations are as poignant today as they were then. It has since been translated into 13 languages including Hebrew, Spanish, Dutch, Hungarian, Czech, Japanese, Korean, Italian, Portuguese, German, Catalan, Finnish and Mandarin."

"This hilarious revue pays tribute to those who have loved and lost, to those who have fallen on their face at the portal of romance, to those who have dared to ask, "Say, what are you doing Saturday night?" The musical, in a very humorous and honest way, touches on elements of all our lives. There are, I feel, aspects of this production which will resonate with all audience members."
PTC Artistic Associate, Nathan Halvorson will direct this show. Some of Nathan's many directing credits at PTC include TRAILER PARK THE MUSICAL, THE UNDERPANTS and FOREVER PLAID.

I LOVE YOU, YOU'RE PERFECT, NOW CHANGE features local favorites Dominick Varney (Boeing, Boeing), Christie Robinson (Little Shop of Horrors), Brianne Beck (The Marvelous Wonderettes) and Ben Layman (The Plaids).
