First up in the Ogunquit Playhouse Children's Theatre season is Disney's Sleeping Beauty Kids, on stage Saturday, June 29 and Sunday, June 30. It's Princess Aurora's sixteenth birthday and Flora, Fauna and Merryweather must use their fairy magic to save her from the spell of evil sorceress Maleficent! This classic fairytale comes to life with songs from the beloved Disney film, including "Once Upon a Dream," along with fun new songs "Maleficent!" and "A Little Magic Now."
Disney's Beauty & the Beast, Jr. follows with performances on Saturday, July 20 and Sunday, July 21. The brainy and beautiful Belle yearns to escape her provincial life and her brutish suitor, Gaston. However, Belle gets more adventure than she wants when she is captured in the Beast's enchanted castle! Dancing flatware, menacing wolves, and singing furniture fill the stage with music and magic in this beloved fairy tale about very different people finding strength in one another and learning how to love.
Next on stage is Disney's Mulan, Saturday, Aug 10 and Sunday, Aug 11. This exciting tale follows the impending invasion of the Huns who threaten the tranquility of Mulan's quiet life. In the wake of a call to arms, the brave Mulan disguises herself as a soldier to serve in place of her elderly father. With the help of her mischievous dragon sidekick, Mushu, she embarks on a thrilling journey. By protecting those that she loves, Mulan realizes her own courage and discovers that "a flower that blooms in adversity is the most rare and beautiful of all." Disney's Mulan invites the audience along on a legendary trek to victory with favorite songs including "Reflection," "Honor to Us All," and "Make a Man out of You."
Dora the Explorer Live! Dora's Pirate Adventure Kids is sure to be a hit with the younger set. On stage Saturday, Aug 17 and Sunday, Aug 18 the story follows Dora, her best buddy Boots the Monkey, and the rest of their friends as they embark on an exciting trip to Treasure Island. The audience helps them navigate over Dancing Mountain, through Silly Singing Bridge and to confront the Pirate Piggies.
