Mad Horse Theatre Company's Dark Night Series returns with Midge's Section, a selection of short comedies set in a restaurant. The production opens on Monday, October 11, and will run on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings through October 20. The plays will be presented at the new Lucid Stage Theater, 29 Baxter Boulevard in Portland. Showtime is at 7:30 pm. Admission is by donation only, with a suggested donation of $10.

Directing Midge's Section is guest director Aurora White, who is an alumna of the Mad Horse Theatre Children's Theater Ensemble. Performing will be Mad Horse Theatre Company member Burke Brimmer, and guest artists Nicholas Schroeder, Bill McCue, David Murray, Amanda Huotari, Amanda Painter and Tara McDonough.

Midge's Section is comprised of three fabulous short comedies:

Recruiting, by James Noel Hoban: A man eating alone is joined by a mysterious corporate recruiter who makes him an offer that will change his life, if he is willing to conceal his identity.

Canker Sores and Other Distractions, by Christopher Durang: A man and a woman, previously married, try to reconcile over dinner, but a canker sore and a talkative waitress ruin everything.

Sure Thing, by David Ives: Two people meet in a café and find their way through a conversational minefield as an offstage bell interrupts their false starts, gaffes, and faux pas on the way to falling in love.

The plays are woven together with a dash of improvisation as waitress Midge plays a crucial role in each scene.
