For two days only, Maine State Music Theatre will present a brand new and unique version of ALICE IN WONDERLAND for its young audiences. The interactive, musically driven children's show retells the story of the young Alice as she travels through the mysterious Wonderland, meeting the most interesting of characters and getting caught up in the stickiest of situations. Show dates are August 24th at 10am and August 25th at 11am and 2pm, with the last two shows being sold out. Tickets for the 10am August 24th performance are available online at www.msmt.org, by phone at (207) 725-8769, or at the box office at Pickard Theatre on 1 Bath Rd. located on the Bowdoin College campus.

ALICE IN WONDERLAND is written by The Combined geniuses of Marc Robin, director of this year's SPAMALOT, and Curt Dale Clark, who played Billy Flynn in CHICAGO and currently plays Sir Galahad in SPAMALOT. Those who know the story of Alice well will be delighted to see not only the story come to life on stage, but the humorous nods toward the show's own theatricality. As usual with children's shows, audience members will be asked to participate by the onstage actors.

The show will be almost exclusively put together by the 2010 MSMT Intern Company, under the direction of MSMT Educational Director Raymond Marc Dumont . Both performance and production interns lead the way as principal characters, costume and light designers, stage managers, and other critical positions within the show.

The majority of the cast has been seen in ensemble roles and featured roles throughout the 2010 season in MY FAIR LADY, CHICAGO, SPAMALOT, and the last intern show, RENT in Concert. Becca Gottlieb plays the title role of Alice and Chelsey Clark plays both the Queen of Hearts and Alice's sister, Margaret. Serving double duty are actresses Taylor Broadard (Caterpillar and Dormouse) and Whitney Winfield (Cheshire Cat and Tweedle Dee). Matt Begin takes the stage as the infamous Mad Hatter with his tea drinking companion the March Hare played by David C. Strobbe. Brett Tubbs finishes out the principal cast as the Knave of Hearts. Local actors Mackenzie Bowerman, Micahaela Boissonneault, Hannah Daly, Avery Ecker, and Blair Best round out the remaining cast as the Sunflower, Tweedle Dum, the terrifying Jabberwocky, and the Queen's attendants, respectively.
