Musical Comedies are Hackmatack Playhouse's forte. Hackmatackers (those who have attended a Hackmatack production and keep coming back) are said to "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" and are going to adore this show. Lovingly ripped off from the classic film comedy "Monty Python and the Holy Grail", "Spamalot" retells the legend of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table, and features a bevy of beautiful show girls, cows, a killer rabbit and many French people. Did we mention the bevy of beautiful show girls?

"Spamalot" is winner of three 2005 Tony Awards including the Tony Award for Best Musical of the 2004-2005 season and received 14 Tony Award nominations. During its initial run of over 1,500 performances, it was seen by more than two million people and grossed over $175 million. Hackmatack Playhouse producer Michael Guptill said, "Can you imagine? 1,500 performances, two million people, $175 million dollars? We'll be doing 15 performances, as many as 3,000 people, and", he said jokingly, "we hope to make gas money enough to mow the front lawn parking lot! Seriously, this will be a fun show!" Guptill greets Hackmatackers before every show with announcements, and a quick joke.

"Monty Python's Spamalot" opens Wednesday, July 30 and runs through Saturday, August 16. Show times are Wednesday through Saturday evenings at 8:00, with Thursday matinees at 2:00. The 2014 schedule at Hackmatack Playhouse also includes "The Trip to Bountiful," Wednesday, August 20 through Saturday, August 30.

Hackmatack Playhouse (Route 9, Berwick, Maine) continues a tradition of affordable ticket prices with student, senior, and group discounts. Tickets are now on sale. Individual ticket prices are $25 for adults, $23 for seniors, Thursday senior special of $20, and $10 for students under age 20. Tickets are available on-line at www.Hackmatack.org or by phone, 207-698-1807.
