Hackmatack Playhouse is looking for actors for their 2010 Production of Ken Ludwig's LEADING LADIES. Actors of all types are encouraged to audition. This fast-paced farce will be performed July 14th-24th with rehearsals beginning June 25th. Both day and evening rehearsals are expected. Auditions will be held at the Hackmatack Playhouse on May 22 and begin at 10 am. All roles are open.

In LEADING LADIES, two Shakespearean actors, Jack and Leo, find their careers in a rut. They are currently performing 'Scenes from Shakespeare' on the Moose Lodge circuit in the Amish country of Pennsylvania. However, when they hear that an old lady in York, PA is about to die and leave her fortune to her two long lost English nephews, they resolve to pass themselves off as her beloved relatives and get the cash. Hilarity ensues when it turns out the relatives are actually nieces and not nephews. Things get even more complicated when Leo Falls madly in love with the old lady's vivacious niece, Meg, who's engaged to the local minister.

The auditions will consist of cold readings. Actors with some Shakespearean/Scansion experience a plus.

Hackmatack is also inviting resumes for Technical interns and male ensemble members for the 2010 Season. Please contact The Playhouse at 207-698-1807 or Hackplayhouse@aol.com for more information.

The 38th season at Hackmatack Playhouse (located at Route 9, Berwick, Maine) includes Cinderella (June 24 through July 10), Leading Ladies (July 14 through July 24), Carousel (July 28 through August 14) and Hello, Dolly (August 18 through the 28th).
