Freeport Players presents a new revue of music by Edith Piaf and Jacques Brel, conceived and written by local playwright Gar Roper, Chanson, which will have its world premiere at Freeport Factory Stage on November 18 & 19. 2011 will close with the 8th Annual WFCP Home Time Radio Hour, hitting the FPAC stage during Sparkle Weekend, December 2-4.

The World Premiere of CHANSON will be November 18 & 19, 8pm at Freeport Factory Stage, Depot St.Tickets are $10 ($8 students) in advance and $15 at the door.

Conceived & written by Gar Roper. Freeport Players is pleased to support Gar, VENUE Theater Productions, and OMNI Learning Institute in bringing this labor of love to the stage. Chanson is a narrated presentation of the music of Edith Piaf and Jacques Brel, celebrating the tragedy and triumph of Paris in the first half of the 20th century. Featuring Flash Allen on piano, Elizabeth Guffey singing songs (in French!) made famous by Edith Piaf, and Ellen Ebert, Daric Ebert, Jane Bradley and Marc Brann playing (in English!) the music of Jacques Brel. This is a unique opportunity to hear the music of these icons of French popular culture.

The audience is invited to join the cast for a reception following each performance.

WFCP Home Time Radio Hour 2011 will perform December 2-4, 2011, F/Sa 7:30pm, Su 2p at Freeport Performing Arts Center, Holbrook St. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door.

It's a New Radio! This year's show is packed with hits from the 1940s, 50s and early 60s, original sketches written in the style of the radio plays of the Golden Age of Radio, and more fun from the jingle singers, WFCP Orchestra and the ever-popular sound effects ladies.
