FOOTLIGHT FOLLIES Set for Maine State Music Theatre Today

Maine State Music Theatre presents the Footlight Follies, a show so big it starts outside the theater! This one-night-only cabaret of songs, skits and silliness is set for tonight, August 12 at 7:30 p.m.

Hosted by CBS 13 News Anchor, Kim Block and local diva, Tory Ryden, this Maine State Music Theatre fundraiser features the best and "delightfully unique" talent by a variety of regional entertainers including the Maine State Music Theatre company, Board of Trustees and guests from seasons past. Audiences will experience a variety of vocalists, humorists, musicians, dancers, impersonators, and even juggling unicyclists.

Featured entertainment includes Scott Moreau sings Johnny Cash, Good Time Sound, Back Bay Four, Jim Chard and the Windy Ridge Band, Woodside One Wheelers, Vox Nova Chamber Choir, Peter Alexander as Jimmy Hendrix. and much more.

Beginning at 6:45 p.m., the fun begins as soon as you walk on the Bowdoin Campus. With seven separate playing areas, patrons will see a variety of buskers at their best, each presenting an eclectic glimpse of their special talents before you go into the Pickard Theater. Once inside the entertainment continues in the lobbies and in the audience, before the curtain rises at 7:30 for the world premiere of Footlight Follies. The busker-like entertainment continues throughout intermission and following the show. Snacks and drink will be available before the show and at intermission.

Three priceless items will be auctioned off during the show, including the chance to see Mary Poppins while hearing what goes on behind the scenes wearing the stage manager's headset, an opportunity to join MSMT at local auditions in Brunswick and see what happens from the casting director's side of the table and you could enjoy Producer status as you join the MSMT artistic team in New York City for our final callbacks.
