Maine State Music Theatre has collaborated with Brunswick's Curtis Memorial Library to present a summer-long retrospective exhibition titled MSMT Past, Present, and Future: Building a Better Tomorrow for the Arts in Midcoast Maine. The exhibit will be displayed in the Collaboratory of the library for the months of July and August 2016.
To celebrate the opening of MSMT's exhibition, the organization will hold a reception in the Collaboratory on July 6, 2016 at 1 PM, following the theatre's regular library talkback series "A Peek Behind the Curtain". The talkback, held in the Morrell Reading Room starts at noon, and will focus on MSMT's second production of the summer, Andrew Lloyd Webber's masterpiece, Evita.
The exhibit is the result of a yearlong project by the MSMT History Committee, led by trustee John Webster, supplemented by annual staff members, as well as Broadway World Maine editor, Carla Maria Sullwold. Visitors can expect over one hundred documents, props, set models, and costumes to be displayed as well as an interactive children's corner.
MSMT aims to draw attention to the rich history of the cultural institution since its inception in 1959, and encourage community members to become involved in the success of the theatre in years to come.
Curtis Memorial Library is located at 23 Pleasant Street, Brunswick, ME 04011. The library is open 9:30 AM - 8 PM Monday through Thursday, 9:30 AM - 6 PM on Friday, 9:30 AM to 1 PM on Saturdays, and closed on Sundays.
