Penobscot Theatre Company's Dramatic Academy is holding its nose as its latest production takes shape: The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales by John Glore, based on the book by Jon Sciezka and Lane Smith, will be wafting from the Bangor Opera House, November 4-6. Standing familiar fairy tales on their heads, this play offers raucous, silly, stinky fun for the whole family.

"We have a comedically gifted cast of young performers to maximize the laugh-out-loud moments of this piece," says Director of Education Amy Roeder, "and we've had a great time putting a fresh spin on some bedtime favorites. I mean, who could resist such brilliant reimagining as The Princess and the Bowling Ball?"

Fifteen young performers comprise the cast, including: Madeline Allen (Hermon), Christopher Barrett (Hampden), Austin Beaulieu (Hampden), Emma Dryer Neiman (Bangor), Kai Grosjean (Bangor), Nevaeh Howell (Bangor), Derek Johnson (Hampden), Maia Johnson (Hampden), Lucas Lachance (Hampden), Miranda Larson (Hampden), Cami Layman (Hampden), Ellie Mette (Bangor), Paige Napolillo (Hampden), Joseph Rutledge (Bangor) and Lauren Small (Bangor). Directed by Ben Layman and Amy Roeder, the show will feature choreography by Aimee Gerow, student direction by Brewer High School student Bekah Friedman, costume design by Miranda Nation, sound design by Katie Guzzi, and stage management by Santana Ross.

Tickets are $8 for students and $12 for adults. Discounted rates are available for groups. To purchase, call (207) 942-3333 or visit www.penobscottheatre.org.
