Penobscot Theatre Company's production team recently received a gift too big to box but artfully wrapped: a pickup truck from Darling's. "It's just what we wanted!" said Producing Artistic Director Bari Newport. "The company's old pick-up died last spring, and we were desperate to replace it yet extremely limited in what we could afford. Darling's stepped up in a big way and we're enormously grateful!"

A truck in good working order is essential as set construction is at the core of the theatre's work. "We build the sets for every show in a scene shop off-site," explained Newport. "We truck them in large pieces to the Bangor Opera House and assemble them on stage. When the show closes, we strike the set and truck it off. Between load-ins and strikes are countless trips to building supply stores, so we're going to keep this pickup moving year-round."

As the theatre's designated transportation sponsor, Darling's has provided the truck as a cost-free lease, and as a bonus, wrapped the vehicle for optimal visibility.

The partnership with Darling's also involves the provision of leased vehicles for visiting artists, directors, designers, and actors who come to Bangor for weeks at a time in connection with various productions.

"The arts are incredibly valuable to our community, and we are proud to be able to support Penobscot Theatre Company with this donation," said Geoff Johnson, General Manager, Darling's Honda Nissan Volvo.

Penobscot Theatre Company is America's Northeastern-most professional, year round theatre company, owners of the historic Bangor Opera House, a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization, producing a wide variety of plays and musicals each season.
