This glam-punk musical about a Berlin Wall-era East German, genderqueer singer-fronted rock band features a book by John Cameron Mitchell and music and lyrics by Stephen Trask. Opening Off-Broadway in in 1998, HEDWIG won both the Outer Critics Circle and Obie Awards for Best Off-Broadway Musical. The 2014 Broadway run earned the show 4 Tony Awards, including Best Revival of a Musical.
Cast Aside's Artistic and Executive Directors David Surkin and Celeste! Green will co-direct this musical exploration of identity, introspection, and performance. The cast stars Michael Jenkins as Hedwig Robinson/Tommy Gnosis and Alexandra Diamond as Yitzhak. The ANGRY INCH will be led by Music Director Kyle Aarons, and is composed of J.D. Raines on guitar, Nathan Galvez on bass, Michael King on drums, and Aarons on keys.
