Ready for a musical escape into a distant decade? Look no further than The Arundel Barn Playhouse as the 2013 Summer Season opens with the New England Premiere of Roger Bean's 40's musical, The Andrews Brothers. It's 1945 on an island in the South Pacific and a USO show is about to be cancelled when the Andrew Sisters fail to appear. It's up to three determined 4F stagehands to go on with the show!

At an afternoon rehearsal for a USO show, stagehands Max, Lawrence and Patrick Andrews are recruited by the Major-in-charge to fill in as backup singers for pinup songbird Peggy Jones. Peggy soon discovers the brothers' true jobs along with the 4F ailments that kept them out of the Army. As it turns out, the Andrews Brothers do have talent and their stint as backups is looking good. Then they receive word that the Andrew Sisters are quarantined and will not be able to appear. You can guess what happens next. The Andrews Brothers become The Andrew Sisters, Maxine, Laverne and Patty, and the story takes a surprising turn.

Filled to the brim with mistaken identities, slapstick comedy, old-fashioned romance and guys in drag, this musical salute to the swinging 40's has over 25 top tunes from the swing era including Don't Sit Under The Apple Tree, Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, Shoo Shoo Baby, Slow BoatTo China and Ac-Cent-Tchu-Ate The Positive While we may be losing some of the people who first enjoyed the music of the 40's, tunes from the period transcend and resonate with succeeding American generations.

The Arundel Barn Playhouse invites you to join them for The Andrews Brothers, and put a smile on your face and a song in your heart! From June 18 to June 29.
