“The Knotcracker” follows the story of Little Miss Steps, a young girl trying to solve a puzzle without falling to pieces. In typical Li Chiao-Ping Dance style, this evening-length work blends dance and theater. It features adventurous choreography, humorous vignettes, and insightful works to entertain and inspire audiences members of all ages.
“The Knotcracker” premiered in December 2010 to sold-out crowds at Overture Center for the Arts. Critics hailed it as “poignant and laugh-out-loud funny,” and “Li’s holiday gift to the city.” This year’s performance features a new cast of professional dancers, community dancers, and guests from Zhong Yi Kung Fu Association. Liz Sexe returns to the principal role of Little Miss Steps. Matan Rubinstein, Patrick Reinholz and Ben Willis will perform live, original music.
