The New YorK Gilbert & Sullivan Players will appear at the Capitol Theater in the Overture Center for the Arts to perform The Mikado on March 26 at 8pm.
Gilbert & Sullivan's lush Eastern operetta, their ninth collaboration, shattered every record in the late 1880s, becoming arguably the most popular work in the history of musical theater. It's no surprise, either - thanks to gorgeous Japanese sets, vibrant costumes, soaring music and that Gilbertian humor with a satirical edge. New YorK Gilbert and Sullivan Theater revive the whimsy and beauty of the original and have "proven themselves artistically untouchable," says the Stamford Advocate, in this "stunning" production.
Tickets for The Mikado range from $40-60, and season tickets for the Overture Center range from $37-57. This production will participate in the Take 10 program, in which students and educators may purchase $10 tickets. Order tickets by calling (608) 258-4141 or by visiting www.overturecenter.com. The Overture Center is located at 201 State Street.
