Madison Shakespeare Company Presents Premiere of HENRY THE FOURTH PART TWO Image

Madison Shakespeare Company announces the premiere of Henry the Fourth Part Two at the Bartell Theatre, with performances February 8-16. In the sequel to Henry the Fourth, England is thrown into chaos by rebellion, sibling rivalry, and the most devious ruffians who ever skipped out on a bar bill. The production is directed by Francisco C. Torres and features Sam D. White as Falstaff, Brian McGowan as Prince Hal, and Tom Kastle as King Henry.

Shakespeare's history takes place in the year 1405. King Henry IV, who took the throne from Richard the Second, faces ongoing rebellion. His mental and physical faculties are in decline, forcing his children to plan uneasily for the future. And his former allies are taking up arms against his faltering reign.

The play examines the extraordinary measures people in uncertain times take in the search for security, both at the very bottom and very top of the social order. It shows how moneyed interests can distort and provoke military action while remaining safely on the sidelines. And it reminds one and all that "uneasy lies the head that wears a crown."

Joining the returning cast and crew from MSC's successful February 2018 run of Henry the Fourth are performers including Nina Davis as Mistress Quickly, Martha E. White as Lady Percy, Chelsea Troost as Poins, Colleen Murphy as the Chief Justice, and company co-founder Warren Hansen as Northumberland.

With costume design by Marie Freese, lighting design by Conor Koenig, set design by Bob Moore, properties by Kathleen Tissot, makeup design by Emily Morrison Weeks, and original music by Kierstyn Torres and Tom Kastle.

Tickets are available now at bartelltheatre.org or 608-661-9696.
