Madison is about to witness a brand new theatre experience--combining cinema with live music this weekend as the Overture Center hosts Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in concert.

Audiences young and old can relive the magic of Harry Potter in high definition on a 40-foot screen while Madison Symphony Orchestra performs every note of John Williams' unforgettable score, live on stage, albeit with a 15-minute intermission.

Justin Freer, President of CineConcerts and Producer of the production, adored the books as a teenager and when the movie premiered, was blown away by The Sorcerer's Stone. Freer describes the THE HARRY POTTER™ FILM CONCERT as very special. "It's very powerful to watch an 85-piece orchestra perform the score live. It will be an unforgettable event."

The performance will be conducted by Nicholas Buc, who has also conducted live fiLM Concerts for Star Trek, Back to the Future, and Raiders of the Lost Ark. Buc will work with the talented musicians of the Madison Symphony Orchestra, putting together the entire synchronized show in only two rehearsals.

Freer explained that audience members will be viewing the movie in its entirety with all dialog and special sound effects intact. However, all of the music has been removed and will be performed in perfect synchronization from beginning to end by the orchestra. "It's a very immersive experience watching this along side thousands of other people," he says. "There's nothing like it."

The show is so popular that The Overture Center added a third show for Saturday, June 24 at 2 p.m. Tickets are available by calling the ticket office at 608-258-4141. More good news is that this is only the first of eight movies, so expect to see the other shows in the series.

CineConcerts is one of the leading producers of live music experiences performed with visual media and engaged millions of people worldwide in concert presentations. Recent and current live concert experiences include Gladiator, The Godfather, It's a Wonderful Life, Dreamworks Animation In Concert, Star Trek: The Ultimate Voyage 50th Anniversary Concert Tour, and Breakfast at Tiffany's. From full-length movie screenings with live orchestra to music-interactive sporting event experiences to original 3D-environment holiday programming, CineConcerts is at the forefront of live entertainment.
