The Hypocrite, that was in 1664, the first title of the play by Molière later became, in 1669, or the imposter Tartuffe. A change in title that refers to changes in content due to the fierce and threatening opposition from those who felt targeted by the character. Molière was forced to soften his remarks, which also attacks more directly to the church, but referred to the seizure of power by a false devotion. This is the first version, more direct, harsh, strong and contemporary resonances, what you want to find the director Laurent Delvert.

Christian, he said, in fact afraid of the evolution of religion in history, responsibilities, his misdeeds. He regrets forgetting the love and respect for others who are its foundations: it and all the other also only engender intolerance. Religion, even in our secularized societies, continues to weigh heavily in the great debates which agitate. Just during the presidential elections in the United States or France, to consider some pressure on candidates, or ambiguities in the statements of those candidates. Also wish Laurent Delvert, about Tartuffe, keep in mind the debate over the celibacy of priests and the hypocrisy that exists about their sexuality.

What he wants, too, is questioning the characters more. Thus, Tartuffe: a Manichean vision not, what humanity can we detect in him? How the little child that has been raised a Catholic, he could become this being Machiavellian? Orgon is really a fool? Elmire Is not disturbed by a Tartuffe who may be sincere in his declaration of love? Questions are asked.
