Be prepared to enter seventies Britain with Donna Summer’s music top of the hit parade and adults behaving disgracefully in Mike Leigh’s hilarious masterpiece of situation comedy, Abigail’s Party. Leigh insists that it was never his intention to write a reflection of the “state of the nation”, but rather the play came from an intuitive sense of the spirit of the times, and from a growing personal fear of, and frustration with, the suburban existence.
