The Appalachian Center for the Arts presents its 2024-2025 Vitality New Play Commissions, featuring works by five nationally-recognized playwrights addressing crucial health and wellness topics for various age groups. One of the highlighted plays, written by Brian David Walker, tackles cyberbullying for grades 6-8 and has been shaped with input from local middle school students. Other commissioned plays explore themes such as self-confidence, vaping, opioid addiction, and red flags in youth relationships. The initiative aims to provide educational theater that sparks conversations around these pressing issues among students across eastern Kentucky.
