Highlands Latin Schools Drama Troupe presents My Fair Lady, a 1964 award-winning musical that is considered one of the greatest musicals of all time. Written by Lerner and Loewe, it is the tale of an uncouth cockney flower girl who is transformed into a cultured member of high society.Based on the 1913 stage play, Pygmalion, by George Bernard Shaw, this play is set in the early 1900s in London, England. Eliza Doolittle (played by both HLS senior Danielle Fuller and HLS sophomore Meg Booker) is doomed to live her life in the lower rungs of Edwardian society until Professor Henry Higgins (played by HLS junior Josiah Gomez), an arrogant phonetics professor, wagers with Colonel Pickering (played by HLS junior Chapman Adkins) that he can transform her into a proper lady. Elizas father, Alfred Doolittle (played by HLS sophomore Judah Murdoch) is an interesting character who spends his time at local establishments with his cronies, singing amusing songs like With a Little Bit of Luck, and Get Me to the Church on Time.My Fair Lady features a wonderfully enchanting musical score, including the songs, Wouldnt It Be Loverly?, The Rain in Spain, and I Could Have Danced All Night. A live orchestra will accompany all performances. Upbeat songs and lively dancing make this show captivating from the start. There will be thirty-five HLS students on stage and twenty or more behind the scenes.Location:Clifton Center2117 Payne St.Louisville, KY 40206
